Miss Kate and The Higher State

Kate has been songwriting since 2006 when she was hosting parties in NY, and has since led a sucessful acting career on stage and on screen in Ireland.

Her musical style combines soulful blues with a deeper and darker lyrical content and is largely influenced by Blues, Soul, Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop...

Kate's influences include Muddy Waters, Leadbelly and Jimi Hendrix to Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Erykah Badu to name a few. She likes to juxtapose darker lyrics with an upbeat melody or instrumental.

Kate has recently started singing and collaborating with a new band. The band are an eclectic mix of musicians from all over the world. They have been working together on various different projects in Dublin for years and bring a unique mix of soul and funk to the table.

They entered Westland Studios in 2013 to record an EP that would define the sound of Miss Kate And The Higher State. The EP was launched in Dublin with a dazzling live show and a great local press turnout.
